Project Objective
To estimate the scale of seismic hazard across the entire United Arab Emirates, and in particular within the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, using various methods (scenario-based or probabilistic); and, using these seismic hazard results, to anticipate the risks this will pose to infrastructure, superstructure and the building stock; and to monitor earthquakes in real time via the seismic station established for this purpose, whilst utilising the risk assessment results obtained from the developed near-real-time systems to inform and guide emergency response teams through map- and report-based communications, thereby establishing an institutional risk reduction and management system.
